FACILITIES

Our facility has flexible play areas determined by Size and Age of dogs attending daily. Our Outdoor Potty area is limited but is designed with your dog’s security in mind. While outdoors your dog is always attended to by an R Furry Friend Staff member and indoors your dog is matched in a play group based on size and activity level. Our Outdoor area is cleaned as needed and disinfected weekly to minimize the possibility of disease transmission and to combat odors. Accidents inside are be disposed immediately.

Our Indoor Playroom is 4000 square feet of open, flexible area covered with “paw” friendly flooring, and air conditioned in the Summer. The open design can be made into separate areas for different size and aged dogs. Each area is cleaned as needed during the day and disinfected daily. While dogs are never kept in kennels, we have the ability to have “time out” areas during the course of the day. Also in the case of any dog becoming ill we have isolation areas available to place dogs until they can be picked up by the owner or receive the attention they need. Clean Blankets are placed either on the floor or on our elevated storage compartment for those dogs that need a little cushioning.

Before your dog can be enrolled in R Furry Friends; a thorough face to face interview must be done by appointment only. This screening process is done at our facility in one of our Screening Rooms. This helps protect both your pet from contact with the general populationand humans from any problems that may occur during the screening interview. RESERVATIONS & CANCELLATIONS

Reservations at R Furry Friends are on a first come, first serve basis and must be made at least one day in advance. Failure to reserve may result in your dog being turned away when arriving in the morning.  Cancellations must also be at your earliest convenience or you will be charged for that day. We are limited to the number of dogs we can service on a daily basis.

FOOD & MEDICATIONS

If you would like R Furry Friends to feed your dog, you are asked to supply pre-measured plastic containers with your dog’s food or treats which will be given to your dog on an individual basis . If your dog requires medication during the course of the day, R Furry Friends will gladly administer the correct dosage per dog owner’s instructions. The medicine should be in a container that will keep it safe and dry such as a pill bottle or individual day pill box that one can get at any pharmacy. There will be an extra fee of $2.00 a day for R Furry Friends to give this medication.

COLLARS & LEASHES

All dogs attending R Furry Friends will need to have suitable collars and leashes while staying in the facility. Collars should be buckle type which fits comfortably around dog’s neck. Choke collars, pinch collars, or harnesses will be taken off and stored until dog is picked up. Leashes need to be standard leashes either 4 or 6 foot in length. Please NO retractable leads because of storage and getting dog in and out of a car and we are on a busy street.

DAILY CHECK-IN

When you check your dog in at R Furry Friends, you will need to verify your dog has not had any problems in the last 24 hours such as vomiting, persistent coughing, or diarrhea. If your dog develops any of these problems we will isolate your dog and contact you. If R Furry Friends feels your dog has an immediate medical problem we will contact you and seek medical attention at dog owner’s expense. We recommed no drop-offs or pick-ups to occur between 11:30am and 1:00pm, that is our lunch period!

SEVERE WINTER WEATHER

In the event of severe winter weather, we determine our closing based on the East Penn School District Closing.  If the district closes, so do we. However, if there is a delayed opening by the School District we will be open our normal business hours.   If a severe storm hits during the day and we need to close early, we will contact you at the time the decision is made and make arrangements to get your dog home.

"The poor dog, in life the the firmest friend,
The first to welcome, foremost to defend,
Whose honest heart is still the master's own,
Who labours, fights, lives, breathes for him alone,
Unhonour'd falls, unnoticed all his worth,
Denied in heaven the soul he held on earth,
While man, vain insect hopes to be forgiven,
And claims himself a sole exclusive heaven."

Lord Byron
Inscription on the monument of his
Newfoundland dog, 1808
